Hi, I'm Jen Phillips and this is The Podgress Report.

Did you know that just about half of the U.S. workforce is either looking for their next job, thinking about looking for their next job, or considering making the leap to entrepreneurship?

That means if you look around the office or your next meeting, every other person is thinking about their "What's Next". Just as staggering are the 20% of workers currently experiencing symptoms of burnout.

That's a HUGE number of us trying to figure out how we'll evolve our career for the better, some of us while at the lowest of our resilience.

This podcast is for us.

I started digging into the data on the state of employee engagement & entrepreneurship when I experienced workplace burnout firsthand. I found myself unable to rally. I couldn't do my best work, even though I had a job and a team that I really, really loved.

I began relentlessly scouring YouTube, podcasts, books, and research to learn from people who'd gone through what I was experiencing. Still, it was a pretty lonely struggle to decide whether or not I should or could leave my secure, seemingly stable job without a crystal clear plan in place.

While there's a ton of content about how to make the side hustle the main hustle... there's less content about the steps BEFORE the side hustle, BEFORE the next job.

How do we get ready to transform, especially if we're burned out?

So I poured over hundreds of stories from other people like me and the experts who had studied the data. And it became clear that it might be incredibly useful to bring the researchers and the brave people who'd documented their stories together might make it easier for people going through this right now - all 46% of us - to figure out the "rightest" way to navigate the decision process by hearing success stories. What to do, what NOT to do, and talking with experts about the trends and the data.

We can learn as a community. We can make real progress toward defining our own "What's Next".

So that's what this podcast is about.

We'll deliver weekly additions of The Podgress Report. I hope you'll join me and my incredible guests here. Every week.
